He attended St. Andrew College, Ghana where he was awarded a Teachers’ Cert. ‘A’ in 1974. He also attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology studying BSc Development Planning in 1982. He continued at the City Banking College in 1991. In 2003, he was awarded a degree in Executive MBA from the University of Ghana.

Mr. Anthony Yaw Oppong is a fellow at the Institute of Directors, Ghana, and the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He is also a member of the Institute of Leadership & Management. He has in the past been a member of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the Institute of Planners, Ghana.

He was the Investment Advisor/Banker (Corporate Finance) at the Merchant Bank Ghana Ltd. from 1994 to 1996. He then continued as the Branch Operations Manager (Domestic & Foreign) between1996 and 1998 and also the Relationship Manager (Corporate Banking) from 1998 to 1999. From 1999 to 2000, He became the Training Manager at that same institution. He was the Senior Manager of Operations at the Barclays Bank Ghana Ltd between 2000 and 2010. He was also the Chief Executive Officer at the Chartered Institute of Bankers from 2010 to 2018. He also contributed as a Teacher to the Educational field in Ghana and Abroad.

He has served on several academic and corporate boards in Ghana and he has also attended a number of conferences and seminars both in Ghana and abroad.
